Privacy policy.
How we handle information from website visits, inquiries and business introductions.
The short version: this website uses no analytics, advertising trackers or cookies of our own. We use the personal information you send us, or that is publicly available about you in a business capacity, to respond to inquiries and discuss relevant advisory services. We never give your details to a buyer without your consent, and you can ask us to stop contacting you or delete your information at any time.
1. Who we are
This policy explains how Jeff Hue, trading as Witbur Partners (“we”, “us”), handles personal information when you visit witbur.com, correspond with us, or when we contact you about a potential data-licensing or advisory engagement. For the purposes of data protection law we are the controller of that information. You can reach us about anything in this policy at legal@witbur.com.
2. What we collect
When you visit this website. We do not use analytics, advertising pixels or optional browsing-preference cookies. Our fonts are served from our own domain. The contact page uses Cloudflare Turnstile to protect the form from automated abuse. It processes technical signals, including IP address and browser information, for security and to improve bot detection. Read the Turnstile Privacy Addendum. Our hosting provider also processes technical connection and request information to deliver and protect the website.
When you contact us. Your name, work email address, company or organization, whether you hold or are seeking data, your message and any optional collection or buyer-brief details when you use the contact form, together with anything you choose to tell us in correspondence. Cloudflare processes and stores form submissions on our behalf, applies form validation, Turnstile bot verification and rate limits, and sends notifications to our business inquiry mailbox. Please do not submit confidential company data or credentials.
Business contact information from public sources. To identify companies, including those in bankruptcy, receivership or liquidation, that may benefit from our services, we collect the names, roles and business contact details of company officers, founders, bankruptcy trustees, receivers and court-appointed administrators from public sources such as company registries, bankruptcy and other court filings, court notices, company websites and press coverage. We collect only information relevant to your professional role.
We do not intentionally collect special-category information, and we ask you not to send us personal information contained in your company’s data. Licensed data moves directly between you and the buyer, not through us.
3. How and why we use it
| Purpose | Legal basis (where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies) |
|---|---|
| Responding to your inquiries and running an engagement you have asked for | Steps at your request before entering a contract, and performance of a contract |
| Contacting businesses, bankruptcy trustees and receivers about relevant advisory opportunities | Our legitimate interest in offering a service relevant to your professional role. You can object at any time. |
| Introducing you to a buyer | Your consent, which we obtain in writing before any introduction |
| Keeping records, resolving disputes and complying with law | Legal obligation and legitimate interests |
We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Who we share it with
Buyers, only with your written consent and only to the extent needed for the introduction.
Service providers who process information on our behalf under contract:
- Google, for email
- ImprovMX, for email forwarding
- Resend, for email delivery
- Cloudflare, for website hosting, inquiry processing and storage, and inquiry notification delivery
Professional advisors and authorities, where required by law or needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
5. International transfers
Our service providers process information in the United States and other countries. If you are in the UK or European Economic Area, this means your information may be transferred outside it. Cloudflare provides website hosting, inquiry storage and inquiry notification delivery under its Data Processing Addendum. Contact us at legal@witbur.com with questions about these arrangements.
6. How long we keep it
Contact form submissions are stored in a Cloudflare database. It does not delete records automatically, so we apply the retention period below to form submissions and email correspondence alike and delete records manually when it ends. We keep correspondence and engagement records for as long as they are relevant to an ongoing or potential engagement, and generally no longer than three years after our last contact, unless the law requires longer. If you ask us not to contact you again, we keep only the minimum needed to respect that request.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you
- have it corrected or deleted
- restrict or object to its use, including an absolute right to object to direct marketing
- receive a copy in a portable format
- withdraw consent at any time
To exercise any of these, email legal@witbur.com. To stop hearing from us, reply “unsubscribe” to any message. We will respond within one month.
You may also complain to your local data protection authority, such as the supervisory authority where you live or work in the EU or UK. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
8. Security
The website uses HTTPS. We limit the information requested at initial inquiry and ask you not to send underlying company data or sensitive attachments. Specific confidentiality and handling requirements are agreed for an engagement before such information is shared. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
9. Cookies and browser storage
We set no cookies of our own. The security check on the contact page and our hosting provider may process technical information for abuse prevention, as described above.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as our practices change. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and we will highlight material changes on this page. Questions or requests: legal@witbur.com.
